Happy Friday!
I’ve noticed a few #WOYBS What’s On Your BookShelf posts lately, so I thought I’d write an update on my quest to read a book from every genre listed on GoodReads (original blog HERE). I started this challenge/quest around the first of July.

Wow, you do a lot of reading! 🙂 I never seem to have enough time to read everything I want to. The historical book you mentioned, The Vagabonds: The Story of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison’s Ten-Year Road Trip, sound really interesting!

It was an interesting book. I didn’t know those two famous men were such good friends. They took their families and a whole entourage and most of the trips became a PR event.

Hi – this is an ambitious reading challenge! I appreciate when you say that many of the books you’ve read so far have not wowed you and are 3 star reads. That’s the model I follow too. I did enjoy The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – I had to check to see what I gave it (4 stars). I’ve read a few books by Moriarty, but not Big Little Lies. Here’s hoping you find a “wow” book soon!

Hello Barb! I may have been introduced to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo from you. I liked it too. My Goodreads rating system is 1:hated 2: didn’t like 3: liked 4: loved 5: GOAT!! Although my son says I’m a “harsh” rater, haha.

Haha – I also use the Goodreads model. Three stars means I liked it! People get caught up in the idea that 3 stars means average. I totally disagree. And you can’t put all the good books together – certainly greats like For Whom the Bell Tolls or Gone with the Wind deserve the distinction. 🙂

That’s quite the list. I’m not nearly as broad in my reading genres. I stick mostly to the classics, history, historical fiction, biography/autobiography, self-help, and photography with the occasional cookbook thrown in and all are e-books. I love many things about this format, including the fact that they don’t take up any space in m home like paper books used to. My current quest is reading (or re-reading) as many of the the classics as I can. My cookbooks are all ones for either the Instant Pot or the Ninja Foodi Grill (my 2 fave appliances), so unless you have those appliances, my recommendations wouldn’t work for you.

I have a pressure cooker and a Ninja foodie air fryer. Tell me what you love about the Foodi Grill and I might have to invest in one! After this all-genre quest is complete, I’m back to historical fiction, classics, biographies etc. Those are my faves too.

The 5-in-1 Foodi Grill is the one I have. I keep it in our Texas home. They have a 7-in-1 too, but this one meets my needs and doesn’t take up as much real estate on my counter. I love the indoor grill feature. It’s as good as outdoor grilling, and doesn’t smoke up your kitchen. It also air fries, bakes, dehydrates and roasts. It takes up less electricity than my oven, and doesn’t heat up the house, so it’s my go-to in Texas.
