Happy Monday! Well, since I live in the high desert, I don’t see too many {ok – not any!} lighthouses…but I’ve decided it would be fun to keep track of the ones I do come across in our travels. Here’s a Miscellaneous Monday trivia question: How many lighthouses are there in the U.S.?…and which state has the most lighthouses? Per Wikipedia: The United States has approximately a thousand lighthouses as well as light towers, range lights, and pier head lights. Michigan has the most lights of any state with over 150 past and present lights. The top photo is Point Pinos in Pacific Grove, California. The photo below is Admiralty Head Light on Whidbey Island in Washington state. It will take a lifetime to see even a dozen, since I live so far away from any of them! But, hey! Eventually, I’ll have a small collection of lighthouse photos. (Hmmm…Is a collection like….more than two?)
Have a great day! Do or learn something NEW!
Being an east coast girl I have seen a few light houses. I even climbed up a small one in Maryland years ago. Those winding stairs made me think of the Alfred Hitchcock movie, Vertigo! Didn’t know Michigan has the most. Great pictures!
