Happy Wednesday! As a genealogist, old newspapers are one of my favorite source materials. I’ve found some gold mines in newspapers. But while looking, I’ve also come across some fantastic stories. I recently started keeping track of interesting clips, and I’ll post them now and again for kicks. I wish I had started saving the good ones years ago! Some of them are quite outlandish! It makes one wonder if they are fact or fiction. I thought I’d start my posts with this one that I thought was very interesting.
I hope you have a great day and learn or do something NEW today!

I also like to do geology, although I don’t do it a lot. It is so fun to come upon “interesting” stories. I am glad you are going to post them here!

This is an absolutely marvelous newspaper clipping! What a crazy story! I worked to grant benefits to veterans with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 15 years or so, and I came across some amazing names. Just the best names you can imagine, that I thought I could borrow for story characters in the future. I told myself, year after year, that I would begin writing them down so I could remember the best ones. I never did. So, even though you didn’t keep them all, you kept some, and that is excellent.
