Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

waspnestinautumn

Happy Monday!

As is my typical Monday tradition, here’s my weird, miscellaneous photo of the week.  Yeah…what can you say about a wasp’s nest?…not much!  And, really, not anything nice.  Who likes wasps anyway? No.One.Right?  So, we’ll get onto other randomness:

Here’s a podcast I really enjoyed listening to a few weeks ago: Flipping the Gratitude Switch.  Great advice for all of us!

What I’ve read lately (one for my book club and one for work):

jaminn leadership

The library where I got Jamaica Inn, also had Alfred Hitchcock’s movie based on the book.  So, I got them both at the same time and watch the movie after I finished the book.  Well, I admit I slept through most of it!  It was VERY loosely-based on the book.  Very cheesy! But what can you expect from a 1939 film, right?  I’ll just say, the book was SO much better than the movie!

And lastly, I’ll just let you know I tried a NEW way to grocery shop!  The best thing is that I saved time AND I went shopping right after a gym-workout, so I was really sweaty and gross – but didn’t even have to go into the store!  I’m talkin’ about Walmart’s Pickup Service.  I’ve only done it once, but plan to make it a habit. It will force me to make my weekly menu (something I was so good at when my boys were little – but sadly, not anymore). I can buzz right over to the store after I workout, then come home and be productive!

Well, that’s about it for this week’s randomness.  Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW quote that i somehow missed

uchtdorfquote

Happy Sunday!  Here’s a quote I ran across recently which I LOVED…and I also love that it is referenced to this great man:  President Dieter F Uchtdorf!  However, I’m pretty sure I listened to this talk (I just don’t remember that quote…maybe I just needed my memory jogged!)  The talk was ‘Grateful in Any Circumstances”.  Such good advice!

Have a great day!  Do or Learn or jog your memory with something NEW!

ps: This quote was on pinterest and it wasn’t linked to a site where I could give credit to the graphic designer.  Sorry!  (I really would if I could :o)

miscellaneous NEW stuff

flamboyance

How was your weekend?  Mine was pretty relaxing…that’s a good thing, right?   I stayed around the house because my hubby was doing a project – and he likes me to stay close by in case he has a ‘design question’.  He’s very handy, and always likes to make things just the way I like them to be :o)  Yes, I’m a VERY lucky gal!

Anywhoo!  Here are a few miscellaneous thoughts from my weekend:

This month…since it’s November, I’m going to steal the idea from Snippets from Springdale and concentrate on gratitude this month.  I have SO MANY blessings that I’m truly grateful for, and I need to express that gratitude….either through word or photographs on this blog.  Isn’t that an excellent idea?!?!?

Also…I very rarely watch a movie more than once, but this weekend I ended up watching the Princess Bride again.  I saw this video snippet about one of the actor’s favorite lines from the movie:  CHECK IT OUT HERE!   It’s so true that our perceptions change as we go through this life,  and things we don’t even notice when we’re younger make an impression later as we have more experience to glean from!  So that little clip made me want to watch the movie again!  It’s a GOOD movie!….and I LOVE that line now as well!

Lastly, I spent a bit of time at the piano this weekend.  I recently needed some NEW sheet music {yeah, I get tired of the same ol’ music quite oftenas I’ve mentioned before}, so I learned to play the fun piece from The King and I called ‘March Of the Siamese Children’.  It’s a fun piece to play and every time I play it, it reminds me of the {SOOOOO CUTE!!!} children in the movie!

Again, I  hope you all had a GREAT weekend!  Let me know what NEW things you did!

a NEW Couples Gratitude Journal

journal

Some time ago I saw this on pinterest:

because{source}

…and thought it was a really good idea, so I made a similar one.  For the last six months or so, my dear husband and I have been writing reasons why we love each other and then ERASING those reasons each time one of us would write something NEW!  The other day, I thought that was craziness!….so I came up with a NEW system:

A COUPLE’S GRATITUDE JOURNAL!!!

Now…instead of using an erasable board, we will use this:

loveyou

…then periodically I’ll glue the papers into our gratitude journal!  MUCH BETTER!!!!

Details:  For the journal, I covered a composition book from the dollar store (see TONS of great ideas to cover journals on Pinterest {here}  For the ‘I Love You Because…’ board I just taped paper over a small, cheap (again from the dollar store) cookie sheet so we could use magnets.  One big clip holds the blank cards and the other clip will hold the written on cards until I have time to glue them into the journal.

I’ve loved my husband’s little notes to me the last few months…and now I know I’ll continue to love them as well as be able to keep and cherish them!

Sometimes nothing speaks louder than a silent word written on a piece of paper. David Lowenherz (source)
