Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

Happy Monday! So what’s NEW with all of you? I wish the NEW thing with me would be something exciting like traveling to somewhere I’ve never been, or learning something fabulous. However, the NEW thing at our house is lighting fixtures – now that’s exciting eh? :o)  Don’t get me wrong…they were a long time coming and I’m thrilled we finally got them in! Although once you get one light fixture, you have to update the fixtures in the adjacent rooms too, and before you know it, you’ve shelled out $900!  That could’ve been an airline ticket somewhere exciting! Oh well!

Another miscellaneous item:  I really, REALLY, would like to start a photo-a-day challenge like Connie at Basildonkitchens. BUT could I keep it up?  That’s quite the commitment! Would I?  Should I?  Could I?  I’m still debating.  I’ll let you know.

Oh!  And another NEW thing.  My hubby finished up the picket fence and arbor that is supposed to keep my son’s great dane dog out of my garden area:

I should have got a pic of the picket fence too, because it’s cute, but I can’t wait until I have greenery growing around it.  Hopefully, eventually, it’ll look more like this:

There’s many, many, many NEW things I want to try, learn, do…so many!  I need more hours in a day!  I’ll try to get to a few and update you all next week.

Have a great day!

a NEW photo of the week and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday!  Yes, you guessed it…this is yet another photo of our Monterey trip!  Awww, I think I want to go back.   Well, no, not really…because I prefer to go NEW places that I haven’t been before, but I sure would like to go somewhere else that is just as picturesque. :o)

Alright…for today’s short Sunday sermon, here’s simply a post with 101 scriptures filled with kindness and compassion.  A year or so ago, I went on a scripture memorization kick.  I crammed into my brain close to 100 scriptures, and although I really need to brush up on them, I really enjoyed the experience and gained much from it.  So, when I saw this list of 101 scriptures, I wondered if my brain could fit that many more in it.   I’m going to bookmark the list and work on them.  What a blessing it will be to have words of “kindness” and “compassion” always in the forefront of my mind!  Here’s the list: 101 Scriptures Filled with Kindness and Compassion.

Have a terrific day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

wintergate2

Happy Monday!

Do you recognize this little fence and gate?  It’s the same gate as my very favorite fall photo from last year…no, two years ago!  Apparently someone put the gate back on its hinges.  Artistically, I’m not sure I appreciate that! :o)

Also…speaking of hinges…I finally searched for a website that I was told had all of Jeanne P Lawler’s music on it.  Jeanne was a dear friend of our family.  She passed away a couple of years ago, but her music lives on!  {Here’s the website}  She wrote the music to the children’s song “Hinges“.  What an awesome lady she was!  I’m going to have to find the photo of her pulling up her pant legs to show off her crazy socks on our Alaskan cruise!  You’ll love it…(when I find it!)

Lastly…I had to share this reference guide for Quaker family history research at Ancestry.com.  Such good information!  I’ve got to get to work…my family history research has been lagging lately.

Have a great day!  Do or Learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week #58 and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday!  I walked by this lovely yard recently…not sure why the empty pots are stored there on the fence like that…(?)…but their yard sure was gorgeous!

For a short Sunday sermon, here’s a quote from a talk I listened to a while back.  I think it is very true.

Margaret D. Nadauld taught: “The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.

Here’s the FULL TALK where that was quoted.  (Just in case you’d like a longer Sunday sermon :o)  Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

NEW Photos of My Week #8

I’m finally (sort of) caught up with things from being gone on our trip, so I went out shooting today.  BRRRRR!!!!  It was below freezing and there was a very cold wind blowing.  I tried to find shots that I could quickly roll down my window and get!  Does that make me a lousy photographer?  Wimpy huh?  But seriously, it was really cold!  Here’s what I got…..fireplace, here I come!
