a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

lovedlife

Happy Sunday!

Oh, how life is getting in the way of my photography habits!  And it’s SO beautiful out there!  So many rich, autumn colors!  I had a brief outing a few days ago, but I want  need to get out more frequently!  All the pumpkins, the mums, the fall foliage  – oh so beautiful and fun to shoot!

Well today’s quote reminds me of people that I know, who love and live life to it’s fullest.  They’re an awesome example to me.  I genuinely love life too; but the people I’m thinking of seem to treat life as a gift.  It is precious to them. Thinking of life as a gift reminds me of a song the young people in our church sing:

My life is a gift; my life has a plan.

My life has a purpose; in heav’n it began.

My choice was to come to this lovely home on earth

And seek for God’s light to direct me from birth.

OR…taking the advice from Leonardo Di Caprio (well, really, his character on Titanic) is good too:

Lastly, for this Sunday sermon, I’ll share a fabulous talk entitled “Come What May, and Love It”  (Link HERE)

In case you don’t have time to go read the entire talk, I’ll add some highlights below (but I hope you do go read it – I think you’ll love the blind date story!!! Haha!):

  • The way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life.
  • Learn to laugh
  • Seek for an eternal perspective
  • Understand the principle of compensation
  • Trust in our heavenly father and in his son, Jesus Christ

That is it for today!  Go do something NEW and live life and LOVE it!

a NEW chapter

books

Happy Tuesday!  Yeah, I really don’t know where the last week or so has gone.  No NEW posts usually means I haven’t had time to get out shooting. Boo!  {Very sad}

However, I thought I’d quickly share this photo of some books from my local library as well as share the news that I’m starting a NEW chapter in my life.  I’ve been working at the same place for the last decade.  It has been a very convenient job (5 minute commute….very flexible hours…pretty good  commission $ for my four hours a day)…BUT, I’ve been wanting something NEW for quite some time now.  And the opportunity has arrived! Yeah!  Quite soon after hanging up the phone after accepting my new position, I read this quote somewhere:

Close some doors today.

Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance,

but simply because they lead you nowhere.

-Paulo Coelho

Funny story: My current boss was trying to entice me to stay and threw out the comment that “If you stay, since you know this job so well, you won’t have to learn anything new”.   HAHA!  Wow!…does he not know me very well, or what?!?  (I didn’t mention that I maintain a blog entitled ExploreNewness…my quest to learn or do NEW things as often as I can).  Yes, I almost laughed out loud at that comment, but I didn’t.

Well, have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW and I’ll try to post a bit more often than the last few weeks!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff I gotta share

coltan2

Happy Monday!  I’ve been busy, busy, busy!  My son is getting married in less than four weeks….(yeah, yeah, I know I’m not the mother-of-the bride, but I still have stuff to do! :o)  I’ve also had fun watching my other son play baseball {yup, that’s a photo of the goof-ball above…lookin’ soooooo….ummm what?….like a goof-ball!!!}  High School tennis is just recently done with, which gives us a bit of breathing room, and then just regular life has kept us busy.  It’s all a good busy.  But I just wanted to share a few random NEW things that have crossed my virtual path lately:

Why have I never heard of Sweet Potato Pound Cake?…..***OR*** Manure Tea?  Both are NEW to me!

Also, I’ve been on an organization kick lately….or at least getting geared up to be organized by watching a few organization tutorials on YouTube.  This one amazed me…could I really be that obsessive with my fabric stash???  Check it out HERE.

Have a great day!  Do or Learn something NEW!

NEW culinary desires….and the question WHY!

foodscreen2

WHY is it that we desire the VERY THING in which we can’t easily have at the moment?  With my kitchen torn apart, I current have no sink….no stove….no countertops etc.  Therefore what do you think my greatest desire is?  Yes, you guess it!…To be making all these delicious looking dishes from my Pinterest recipe board!

I remember when I had extreme sciatica and could barely walk.  When I saw people out jogging, I had a great desire to RUN that was almost overwhelming!  (If only I had that same burning desire now, I’d definitely be more physically fit)!

Why is life like this?  Does anyone know the answer?
