NEW photo challenge entries

Happy Thursday!

The NEW image above, taken recently in Amsterdam is my entry for Dan’s Thursday Doors challenge. The image below is for Cee’s CWWC challenge. As I was trying to capture the storm on the mountain this week, I was a bit perturbed with the ski lift right smack in my way, but I guess it works for this challenge. There’s always a bright side to everything eh?!

Have a great day! I hope you do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week and my thoughts on perspective

mounttimp

Happy Sunday!

It has seemed like forever since I’ve had time to go “shooting”, but I took the time to go this past week.  I drove around the lake near us, which gave me a nice view of our lake AND our mountains.  I live pretty close to the foothills of that mountain over there, and although I can always see a part of the mountain, I typically see it from a different perspective.  Actually, I live so close that a smaller hill blocks my view of the larger mountain.  My perspective limits what I can see of the entire mountain range.

This is similar to getting to know people and seeing them for who they really are inside – not just their outward appearance according to our perspective. I recently read the article, “Seeing Things Differently” by Professor Michael J. Dorff.  He gives some very good examples of seeing people differently, and closes his article with:

“Our Savior Jesus Christ sees us differently—not as we currently are but as we may become. I am awed by the love He has for me, who does not deserve it, and for the love He has for all of us—no matter who we are, no matter how different we may be from those around us, and no matter what struggles we have in our lives.”

I hope you might read the linked article too (if you’re interested).

Enjoy your Sunday and have a great week! Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

mtnproperty1

Happy Monday!

Here’s another photo from our Labor Day weekend trip.  Toquerville Falls ATV’n was on Saturday, and we went on another ATV ride on Monday, but up in the mountains that day.  This beautiful view is from a mountain property my family owns.  We’re dreamin’ of putting some sort of get-away shack right here (if only the Forest Service road getting there was passable with anything other than ATVs – so we could actually get supplies up there to build our get-away shack!). Drreeeaam…dream, dream, dream.

Other random stuff:

Although I’m trying to get more fish in my diet, I recently learned that tilapia isn’t something I should be eating. Darn, because it’s pretty cheap and easy to prepare.  But here’s a video explaining why it’s actually pretty unsafe (and gross)…HERE.  Can I just get someone to be my personal chef – to cook or prepare good food for me, so I don’t have to worry about what to eat – or what not to eat!?!  That would be heaven!

I’m such a wanna-be artist!!! I’m currently obsessed with watching YouTube videos of people working on their art journals.  I really should stop watching videos about it and dive in and start me one!  My excuse is…I really need to learn what Gesso and Matte Gel is first – then I’ll start my own!  I’ve enjoyed watching Vicky Papaioannou and Donna Downey.  Do any of you have any tips and tricks before I go for it?

And that’s about it.  Have a great week ahead.  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW iPhone Friday Photo

rainyday2

I took this photo on my phone on JUNE 17th!  It was rainy in the valley and snowy in the mountains that day!  Around here we say, ‘If you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it’ll change!’

This view was from a ‘Parade of Homes’ house my sister and I were touring through…they had a lovely view of the mountains, but they were covered in fog and clouds that day.   Have a great Friday!  Do or Learn something NEW!

a NEW hiking experience – going solo

hikecollage

Happy Saturday!  Today’s ‘challenge’ from the 28-day challenge I’m doing was to take a hike.  Again, this wasn’t really that challenging, because I live so close to the mountains.  But what was NEW to me, was going for a hike…SOLO.  I think I’ve always had someone with me before! To be honest and truthful, it was a bit freaky because I chose a very STEEP hike and not too many people were on the trail.  My mind kept thinking…’If I tumble off this cliff, no one would even know!’ 🙂  But I didn’t fall off the cliff and here is a collage of my trek.  I think I’ll do it more often….maybe I’ll get over my ‘solo-hiking anxiety’….as long as I stay away from the edge 🙂

Have a great day and learn or do something NEW!
