a NEW taste Tuesday

biscuits2

Happy Tuesday! So, although these biscuits I made recently were pretty scrumptious, I want to try these NEW variations soon:

BLT Biscuits (Bacon, Lettuce and Toms are one of my favorite flavor combos!)

Cheddar Bay Biscuits (yummy!)

and for my sweet tooth, Blueberry Buttermilk Biscuits with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting.

I’ll be sure and review these recipes when I have a chance to try them.  Have a great day!  Do or bake something NEW.

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

Happy Monday!…and I want your opinion. Do you think this storm/sunset photo is better in color or B/W? I had son #4 snap this pic as we drove home from his high school graduation.  Good thing I took my camera to graduation. The trick was to crop out all the freeway sign melange! :o)

Other miscellany:

I’m enjoying Wonderful Word Wednesday tremendously! I’m making up my own little story (a mind map) so I can remember these NEW words that I’m adding to my vocabulary.  I also really enjoy corresponding via email with a co-worker of mine because she uses a few words that are new to me. “Suss” being the most recent.  Everyone should add British slang words to their vocab – right?

I was inspired to take pics of weeds on one of my shooting journeys because I had loved Melinda’s wonderful weed collection {HERE}.

Here are a couple of NEW (to me) graphics that I’ve fallen in love with lately:

This was a post entitled ‘Stop postponing happiness’.  Very cool!

I thought this was great advice (some I need to personally take, because sometimes if I don’t succeed the very first time, I move on).

And lastly, I may have mentioned that I love anything coconut and I love anything peachy.  I must make these popsicles – cuz it’s getting HOT out there!

Have a great day! Do something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week

poppies1

Happy Tuesday!  I finally got a chance to go to the poppy field to shoot over the weekend. I have a few more photos I’ll likely share in upcoming posts. 🙂

We had a nice, but busy and productive long weekend.  Sometimes it’s good just to stay home on Memorial Day weekend!  Friday was busy with high school graduation and festivities afterward. I got some projects underway, and even enjoyed a couple of games of racquetball with hubby.  Family dinners on Sunday and Monday made for a very nice weekend.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

bird2

Happy Monday!

So, I was out shooting the other day and this little guy was very elusive, but I finally captured a shot (not as close as I’d like!).  I really don’t know my bird specie names, so I had to google a description to find out. I typed in black bird with yellow head and breast. I kind of hoped for an exotic NEW name that I could learn.  No, his name isn’t exotic at all! It’s name is “Yellow-headed Blackbird” – so basically my description IS the name.  Here’s an audio of the Yellow-headed Blackbird {HERE}.

Yeah, so that was pretty random…here’s some more miscellany:

I’ve tried a couple of NEW dinner recipes lately. There was a Cordon Bleu casserole, and a Taco Casserole. One of my sons texted me and said “Mom, you’re killing it with the new recipes! – that court on blue was BOMB”  Sheesh! Did I raise this kid in a cave?!?  Here was my reply:

AND…actually I was wrong too.  The dish apparently originated in Switzerland – not France.  I learned something NEW! I tried to keep a journal of all the cute things my boys said when they were toddlers – I didn’t know I needed to when they are…well, much older than a toddler! Now I know! (Basically, this blog IS my journal).

Lastly, I was doing some family history research and found a cousin of a cousin who died at the very same hotel we stayed at on our visit to New York in March. Hmmm….I wonder what room he was in! :o) Kind of freaky-weird!

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

religion

Happy Sunday! I was going to keep a copy of the photo of this church steeple with just rain clouds in the background…but I think it got deleted.  Obviously, the rain clouds opened up and started drenching me -well, my car 🙂 with its moist contents, but I kind of like the photographic effect!

I also like this quote:

Day after day, on your path toward your eternal destiny, increase your faith. Proclaim your faith! Let your faith show! (Link to the excellent talk this quote came from is HERE).

Have a great day! Do something NEW today to let your faith show!

a NEW taste Tuesday

smores crack candyfr

Happy Tuesday!  You know, it seems like every time I need to take a treat to an event or activity, my day is just booked solid. Meaning I have to choose really quick and easy recipes to try! (I could just go buy store-bought cookies or something, but ewww! :o)

Anyway…this S’mores Crack Candy recipe is very quick and very easy and EXTREMELY sweet!!! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya! I got the recipe HERE.  Truly, more elaborate desserts are on my culinary bucket list:  Baked Alaska, Baked Brie, etc.  And one day I’ll have an entire day with nothing to do – an empty schedule – free time to do as I please – a day to experiment with elaborate dessert making.  Hmmm…am I dreaming, or what?

Have a great day!  Learn or bake something NEW!
