a NEW Friday iPhone photo to wish you a Happy 4th of July

flagframed

Happy 4th of July!!!   On my way home from the dentist on Wednesday, I snapped this photo of the American Flag – then had fun again with the Waterlogue app.

I hope everyone enjoys celebrating today!  Do something NEW…and remember to wear Red White and Blue!!! :o)  Hahaha! Couldn’t resist a little rhyme to end this post! :o)

a NEW Thursday thought

redwhitebluecollage

These Red White and Blue flowers caught my eye (when I didn’t have my camera with me…of course!)  So a few days later, I took my camera with me to capture these very patriotic beauties.  What do you think?

What are your plans for the 4th?  Parades?  BBQ’s?  Whatever it is, have a wonderful day!  Do or Learn something NEW!

a NEW awesome artistic medium

lenore

Incredible eye make-up huh?  I  saw this over at Out of The Well blog and she said she saw it at The Journal blog! :o)  You should go to either of those sites to see LOTS more examples of this amazing art!

Since my name is LENORE, I just had to post this one!  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked,  “Oh, do you know there’s a famous poet that wrote a poem called ‘Lenore’?”  …Do you mean the famous poet Edgar Allan Poe?  Why YES, YES, and YES,….I DID know that!  {Quit asking me that!!! :o}

Sorry for the Wednesday Rant! :o)  It’s all cool!  Have a great day!  Do something NEW… (except ask people REALLY obvious questions that may or may not annoy them)!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

lake

Happy Monday!  OK, here is my LAST post relating to our recent trip to Minnesota!  I’ll just finish up by sharing a few NEW things we did which we’d recommend to anyone else that finds themselves in Minneapolis in the summertime:

1) Rent bikes and ride around the ”Chain of Lakes”.  The bike ride was very FUN!  Perfect weather!  Lovely views of very high-end homes surrounding the lakes, along with beautifully landscaped yards made the ride even nicer!

2) Take a Mississippi River boat cruise…just so  you can say you did :o)

3) Go to the HUGE Mall of America.  We’re not big shoppers…in fact we didn’t buy anything except dinner (cuz a person’s gotta eat, right?) but it’s just something we couldn’t go to MN without checking out.

4)  Try the Lemon Ricotta Hotcakes at Hell’s Kitchen.  I heard from multiple people that this was a ‘must’, so we went there on our last morning there.  Yup!  They’re yummy!  Now I’ve got to try to make them at home sometime soon.  I looked up the recipe and found it HERE (But I’m going to also paste it below…just in case that link tries to disappear or anything funky like that).

a NEW family history find

genealogy

Hi all!  I just had to share these  “Before and After” photos!  As I previously mentioned, my travels to Minnesota was mainly to do family history work while my husband went to a conference.  I already had some vital information on this family member, but more sources and proof of correct research is ALWAYS a good thing, right?  All I can say is: THANK GOODNESS FOR KIND AND HELPFUL CEMETERY GROUNDS-KEEPERS!!!!  Wow!  I probably would never have found this gravestone!  You can see in the first photo, that the stone was pretty well hidden!  I had called the cemetery office and found out the section, row and grave…but even with that info, it was hard to know when the section began, which direction the rows started etc.  I had been working for a while when a VERY KIND worker drove up in his red truck and asked if I needed help finding a grave.   I told him the information…so he found the row, then paced off the grave number and WHHAAALAAA!  He Nailed it!  SpOT ON! First Try! {Thank you SO much, kind worker in the red truck!!}

Have a great day!  Do or Learn (or FIND) something NEW!

random notes from our NEW travels

falls3framed

Hey everyone! Well, we’re back from our travels to Minnesota.  We’ve never been to that beautiful state, so it was all NEW to us.  Above is my favorite photo from the trip.  I’m ECSTATIC that this photo turned out as well as it did, given that I used a longer shutter speed without a tripod!   Woohoo!  Minnesota was really green and pretty!  Tons of water in that state….especially this year!  The Mississippi river and all the creeks around town were almost at flood stage.  But Mother Nature was very kind to us, and the weather was gorgeous while we were there….only a trickle of rain the entire week. {Thank you!}  This photo is of Minnehaha Falls.  I love waterfalls!  They are so gorgeous and powerful!  I also enjoyed learning some of the local history.  Quite a bit of it related to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s epic poem, ‘The Song of Hiawatha’.  That was interesting, because I’m somehow related to the poet (probably in a round about way) and most of my time in MN was working on family history.  I’ll share a bit more in future posts about that.

Well, have a great Saturday!  Do or Learn something NEW!.

a NEW iPhone Friday Photo

rainyday2

I took this photo on my phone on JUNE 17th!  It was rainy in the valley and snowy in the mountains that day!  Around here we say, ‘If you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes and it’ll change!’

This view was from a ‘Parade of Homes’ house my sister and I were touring through…they had a lovely view of the mountains, but they were covered in fog and clouds that day.   Have a great Friday!  Do or Learn something NEW!
