a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

slowshutterbeachshotframed

Happy Sunday!  We spent last weekend in beautiful Monterey, California and I have a few pics to share in the next few days. I’ll start with this slower shutter speed photo of rocks, waves and seaweed.  It was great to relax and take walks on the beach with my hubby and enjoy the fresh ocean breezes.

Keeping with the ocean theme, here’s today’s short Sunday sermon:

Why We Need Anchors

The purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure at a desired location or to help control the ship during bad weather. However, to accomplish these vital purposes, just having an anchor is not enough. The anchor must be solid, dependable, and used properly at the right time and place.

Individuals and families need anchors as well.

Adversity can come as a great storm to blow us off course and threaten to cast us against the rocks. But sometimes we are also in danger when everything appears to be safe—the winds soft and the waters smooth. In fact, we can be in the greatest danger when we are drifting and movement is so slight that we scarcely notice it.

Read the rest of THIS TERRIFIC ARTICLE to see how the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be our anchor.  Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

lavender Happy Sunday!  I’m still lovin’ the Spring flowers everywhere!  Beautiful color makes for good photo shoots. For today’s short sermon, I hope you enjoy one of my favorite stories from one of my favorite leaders:  Bearing Our Burdens with Hope.  It’s about getting stuck in the snow.  I’ve been there – done that! :o)  Maybe I like this story so much, because I can relate, but it’s also about a really great lesson. Have a great day!  Do something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

poppies2

Happy Monday!  I was thrilled when my friend told me she knew the trail where these  wild poppies grow, and took me there many months ago.  When I went again last week, there were a lot of buds not yet in bloom, so I plan to go out again.  I’ll keep you updated!

This is my mantra for this week: “Blessed are those who have the ability to laugh at themselves, they will never cease to be amused!!!”  Oh man!  Was I ever amused this week!  I’d tell you about it, but really, I should have been on candid camera, cuz it was ridiculous!  (Just use your imagination).

Speaking of laughing…don’t you just love that you can pin all the really funny stuff on Pinterest  and have a customized, exactly-your- sort-of-humor, laugh-fest any time you want to go re-read all your pins?  It’s a wonderful thing!  Here’s a few of mine:

Have a great day!  I hope you have a NEW laugh or two.

Happy Sunday!  And can someone please tell me where the month of May has gone???  I checked and I posted 3 times in May…(this one makes 4)!  Wowza, what a slacker I am. I’ll try to do better.  Nevertheless, here’s the short Sunday sermon:

I recently listened to His Hands and loved it (as well as the really great videography that went with it!).  Check it out!

Lyrics to His Hands by Kenneth Cope

his hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
his hands
sermons of kindness
healing men’s blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
his hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow him

his hands would serve his whole life through
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i’ll not rest until i make of my hands what they could be
’til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
clasped in agony
as he he lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then his hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they’ll be nailed to
as he stumbles through the streets
heading for the hill on which he’d die
he would die
they take his hands, his mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
he lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see him with his hands
calling to me
and though i’m not yet as i would be
he has shown me how i could be
i will make my hands like those from galilee (Source)

a NEW collection of Spring photos

smileboxcover

Happy Friday!  Well, I tried something NEW and made an e-photo book of Spring photos on Smilebox HERE.

My review of the Smilebox site:  I’d give the site a B.  It was quite easy to use, but I think they could do so much better with more fonts and better photo resizing capability.  It kind of bugs me that it takes a few seconds to load the album (about 8 seconds!….ETERNITY!!!)…but that’s life, I guess. Check it out and let me know what you think!  (Although all photos included in the album have already been previously posted…so nothing really NEW!  :o)

Have a great day!
