Miscellaneous Monday – NEW stuff i gotta share

Happy Monday! I’m sharing this photo of this lonely hollyhock because I stole some seed pods from it last October. (It was in front of a historical landmark – an old school house in a tiny town by Capitol Reef National Park). I’m going to try something NEW (to me). I’ve never grown hollyhocks before, so I’m going to learn how! I understand they spread quickly and can get out of control if not checked, but they are so pretty! I typically get garden advice from the Garden Answer YouTube channel. I really like the couple that owns that channel!

Why am I planning my garden in late November??? Because planning makes perfect!…By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail!…A goal without a plan is just a wish!…yada yada… haha!

I also {plan} to design a custom garden planner/seed organizer/garden journal so I have all the information I need all in one place.

I think this will be a fun page to include:

Although the seed organizer will probably be bulky, so it might have to be separate from the planner/journal.

There are SO many NEW things I need to learn about gardening! It’s kind of overwhelming, so I take it little by little…season by season. Way back in 2014, I blogged about my “NEW ideas, plans and dreams” for my secret garden (see old post HERE).

I’m telling you…just blogging about something, truly puts it out in the universe and things happen! If you blog about it – it will come!

This is a little peek of the “secret” space. I’ll take better photos next spring!

Let me know if you have any advice for my garden planner! Have a great day and do or learn something NEW!

a NEW quotography post

Happy Tuesday! I went out shooting on Sunday morning, and as you know, in November it’s pretty hard to find much color – most of the beautiful leaves have fallen and have been raked up by now. However, these beautiful berries caught my eye. I paired the photo with a quote related to another love of mine – reading. It’s true that time marches on…season after season. Another fall, another turned page… full of adventures and experiences. I plan to truly enjoy it!

Have a great day everyone! Do or learn something NEW!

NEW update on my waterfall bucket list

Vernal Falls, Yosemite National Park

Happy Friday! Well, in the last year and a half, I think I visited about 7 NEW waterfalls, so I thought I’d better update my Waterfall Themed Bucket List {HERE}. I’m up to about 34, so lots more to see until I get to 100!

Visiting Yosemite National Park gave us ample opportunities to check off a few! Beautiful!

Have a great weekend and I hope you get to do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo challenge and NEW blog restart

Hello and happy Tuesday! It has been SO long since I’ve shared what’s NEW with me, and also quite a while since I’ve looked through my WordPress Reader to see what’s NEW with many of you! Because, well, life has been busy! But today, I actually popped in to take a peek at sites I’ve followed in years gone by and realized I’ve forgotten the fun and the slight push certain sites give me to get out there and use my camera. It’s been a hot minute!

So thanks especially to Cee’s photo challenges for the extra push today. My life has slowed down a tiny bit, so I’m excited to pick up my camera more often now.

Here’s my Books and Paper themed photos for this week’s challenge:

This Bounty Land Certificate photo was taken at the National Archives in Washington DC. I want to go back So.Bad! So much research, so little time!

I have done, read, or experienced many NEW things in the last 20 or so months since I blogged last. So I’ll start a NEW restart on this little site of mine, now that I have a bit more time.

Have a great day and I hope you do or learn something NEW today too!

a NEW photo of my week and my thoughts on perspective

mounttimp

Happy Sunday!

It has seemed like forever since I’ve had time to go “shooting”, but I took the time to go this past week.  I drove around the lake near us, which gave me a nice view of our lake AND our mountains.  I live pretty close to the foothills of that mountain over there, and although I can always see a part of the mountain, I typically see it from a different perspective.  Actually, I live so close that a smaller hill blocks my view of the larger mountain.  My perspective limits what I can see of the entire mountain range.

This is similar to getting to know people and seeing them for who they really are inside – not just their outward appearance according to our perspective. I recently read the article, “Seeing Things Differently” by Professor Michael J. Dorff.  He gives some very good examples of seeing people differently, and closes his article with:

“Our Savior Jesus Christ sees us differently—not as we currently are but as we may become. I am awed by the love He has for me, who does not deserve it, and for the love He has for all of us—no matter who we are, no matter how different we may be from those around us, and no matter what struggles we have in our lives.”

I hope you might read the linked article too (if you’re interested).

Enjoy your Sunday and have a great week! Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW boost of happiness and joy!

frontdoorwreath

Happy Friday!

It’s been quite a while since I did anything crafty, and I realized I missed this fun hobby! After taking down the Christmas wreath, my front door has been bare, so I decided to do something about that. I didn’t want to spend too much, so I got most of the greenery from Walmart.  It’s amazing how a cheap, quick DIY project can give you a boost of happiness and joy!  Actually, it’s quite surprising the effect such a simple thing has on you!

I’m going to make a concerted effort to do more craft projects – although I’ll have to be choosey about them because I certainly don’t need more knick-knacks around here!

What have you done lately that has given you an unexpected boost of happiness and joy?

Have a great day! Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW (but sad) phase of life

momfuneralflowers

So, over a month ago, I mentioned I was “back to blogging (hopefully much more regularly)”, — I’m really not sure where the month went!

But on February 22nd I started a NEW (but sad) phase of life – a life without my mother. Mom passed away after a very brief illness.  We visited her on President’s Day weekend and she seemed just as strong, and healthy as always. We played a game, visited, ran to the store for a few groceries for her, stayed the night, then went on and traveled to our son’s home for a couple of days.  Less than a week later, she left us.  It was such a blessing that she didn’t have to suffer long! She lived a long, full life and left a legacy of love with her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The day of mom’s funeral, what made me tear up more than anything was the kindness and generosity toward our family from friends, extended family, and neighbors.  What a support system we have and how blessed we are! I know mom is having a grand reunion with my Dad and others.  I know we will all be together again someday, so this is just a temporary separation.

So, I’ll say it again…I hope to blog much more regularly! Here’s hoping life cooperates! 😊

Have a great day! Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

beforeafer (1)

Happy Monday!

I’m back to blogging (hopefully much more regularly)!  I’ve had a very time consuming work-related project that has monopolized my time, but now that I’m done with that, I plan to get back to what I enjoy doing…Exploring Newness (and blogging about it)! 👍😊

While I was busy with my project, my awesome hubby was busy too…with our laundry room project! You know, I’m convinced that the law of attraction pays attention to blog posts!

“Huh, what?” you say?

Well, in February of 2018, I shared a photograph of some laundry hanging in an alleyway in Italy (in this post HERE), and I mentioned a few things from my laundry room wish list – and the law of attraction has granted my wishes (well, my hubby actually granted my wishes, but you get my point eh?) But blog about something and it usually does come to pass!

I wished for doors that would hide my washer and dryer:

and I wished for pull-out shelves:

I’m THRILLED with my NEW laundry center!

I’m still trying to decide what I should store on the shelves above.  I can put ugly laundry supplies in the baskets, but should I go buy three more matching baskets for the top three shelves?  I can’t decide. Please chime in with any advice!

In other miscellany, I’m lovin’ the thought of using a digital planner, so I’ve been watching videos like THIS one, so I can make myself a NEW one! Yeah, I know I’m kinda late to that game!

And lastly, I’m excited to use my NEW glass ball in my photography (that my good friend gave me for my b-day).  So cool!!!

And that’s it for this Monday!  Have a great week and go do or learn something NEW!
