Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share
Happy Monday!
This may be the last of of the poppy field pics. I’m not sure – it seems like I’ve posted so many! But I like this one with the snow-capped mountain in the background.
On with other randomness:
What I’ve been reading:
Well, I’ve actually been listening to this while I drive (14 separate disks!!!)…it’s taking me a while! I’m on disk 12 and it’s just getting to the good part – the wrapping up part. I’ve enjoyed it, but think I should’ve listened through audible so I could increase the speed. :o)
These two I read for my book club group. Both were really good, but I especially liked Willowkeep.
Another very random thing: I learned about hydroponic lettuce! I am I the last to know about this? I thought it was very interesting!
And lastly, I’m always interested to learn there’s actual terms for certain things. Like the time I posted about learning there was an actual word (Bento) for cute little lunch items! This time, I’m surprised there’s an actual name for a technique I’ve semi-used for years: The Pomodoro Technique. I think I can use this technique even more scientifically and efficiently that I have in the past, so I think I’ll study it a bit further. BUT…there’s an actual name for it! You all have probably used it too!
That’s it for this Monday. Have a great day. Do something NEW…or go find NEW stuff out!
a NEW photo and a short Sunday sermon
Happy Sunday! Here’s a quote I thought I’d share for today’s short sermon, and the full message it originated from {HERE}. I also thought of all the bees that were in the poppy field I visited recently – there were thousands of them!!! They diligently and consistently do what they do too.
Have a great day! And Happy Father’s Day!
a NEW photo shooting field trip
Happy Friday!
So this week I went on a photo shooting field trip and took all these pics at the International Peace Gardens. Did you know there’s a list of all botanical gardens and arboretums in the United States? {here it is!}. I’d love to go to so many more. I’m definitely a flower child!

a NEW taste Tuesday
Happy Tuesday! Well, Saturday evening I clicked on over to Life In Between to get the coleslaw recipe I’d seen there recently, but couldn’t resist trying this raspberry tart recipe too. It was SO easy and delicious…especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Thank you Jodi for always providing such wonderful NEW recipes for us to drool over! I made the coleslaw too, but didn’t take any pics – it was a winner too!
Have a great day! Try a NEW recipe…or two. 🙂
Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share
Happy Monday!
This peach-colored iris wowed me! I see variations of purple iris all the time, but not many of this hue.
And other miscellany: I use the notes app on my phone A LOT!…just for random stuff. I recently cleaned out my notes (and stuck a few of them here :o)…so did i really ‘clean’ them out, or is this the equivalent of paper shuffling?
- Quote from the book, The Caliph’s House…page 257: “…seek out what is not immediately seen. On the surface, the carrot is a mere tuft of green, but under the ground there’s a root waiting to be found.”
- A question I heard (or read) somewhere: “When was the last time you had a defining spiritual experience?”
- GOALS (Gaining Opportunities And Life Skills)
- “Think to Thank” and “Observe Then Serve”
- “It’s better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of the one you don’t”.
- “Most successful people start with dominant talent and then add skills, knowledge and practice to the mix”.
- “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking”
Have a great day! Do or learn something NEW!
a NEW song-ography
Happy Sunday!
I’ve been wanting to play along with a song-ography at You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out for a long time…and I finally got to it! Yesterday hubby and I went on a hike to see this waterfall. Well, it was quite the adventure! We made it to this look-out point, but somehow we missed the trail to go down to the actual falls. It started pouring rain on us and by the time we got home, we were totally drenched. You’d think we went swimming in our hiking clothes! I appreciate my hubby so much. He had a meeting he could’ve attended, but he knew that I wanted to do this, so he didn’t go to the meeting. I’m grateful he is striving to keep a balance, because he has had a few meetings lately that have encroached into family time. I love him lots and dedicate this song-ography to him:
Your love is like a waterfall, waterfall
Running wild and free
You hear my heart when I call, when I call
Deep calls, too deep
Your love is like a waterfall, waterfall
Raining down on me
a NEW thought Thursday
Happy Thursday! As you may have noticed, many times, my Thursday quotes have nothing to do with the photo I share it with – I typically just stick a quote that I really like on a photo that I’ve produced that week. However, I thought this photo paired lovely with this quote. The two opposing elements (one black/white and the other a vivid color) corresponds to the quote’s reference of holding two opposed ideas in the mind! This nice of a pairing doesn’t happen every Thursday, but I kind of like it when it does. :o) Have a great day!
