a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday!  As I mentioned in a previous post, my hubby and I recently enjoyed leisurely walks along the Pacific Coast in Monterey, CA.  On one of those walks, we came across a section where a father and his children had built up dozens of cairns.  Hubby dubbed it ‘Cairn Cove’. :o)  Here’s a pic of just one of many!  It looked like the family was having a great time together.  Yup, family time — such a good thing!  It reminded me of this message…which we’ll use for today’s short Sunday sermon:

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

irisbyfenceframed

Happy Monday!  This will be a quick post with a couple of miscellaneous NEW things I’ve noticed lately…then on to tackle the very long to-do list!  You understand, right?!?

1)  I have never heard of BeeSting cake.  Have you???  I first learned about it HERE, and HERE’s the recipe.

2) I’ve never heard of Sprite before (other than the soft drink). Apparently, it is something in the night sky that looks like a gigantic, glowing jellyfish many times the size of Mount Everest.

That’s it…that’s all for today.  Have a perfect day and do or learn something NEW!

Happy Sunday!  We spent last weekend in beautiful Monterey, California and I have a few pics to share in the next few days. I’ll start with this slower shutter speed photo of rocks, waves and seaweed.  It was great to relax and take walks on the beach with my hubby and enjoy the fresh ocean breezes.

Keeping with the ocean theme, here’s today’s short Sunday sermon:

Why We Need Anchors

The purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure at a desired location or to help control the ship during bad weather. However, to accomplish these vital purposes, just having an anchor is not enough. The anchor must be solid, dependable, and used properly at the right time and place.

Individuals and families need anchors as well.

Adversity can come as a great storm to blow us off course and threaten to cast us against the rocks. But sometimes we are also in danger when everything appears to be safe—the winds soft and the waters smooth. In fact, we can be in the greatest danger when we are drifting and movement is so slight that we scarcely notice it.

lavender Happy Sunday!  I’m still lovin’ the Spring flowers everywhere!  Beautiful color makes for good photo shoots. For today’s short sermon, I hope you enjoy one of my favorite stories from one of my favorite leaders:  Bearing Our Burdens with Hope.  It’s about getting stuck in the snow.  I’ve been there – done that! :o)  Maybe I like this story so much, because I can relate, but it’s also about a really great lesson. Have a great day!  Do something NEW!

PERSPECTIVE: Life Depends on How You Look at Things!

SO Cool!!!

Patti Ross's avatarLearn More Every Day

Any dictionary would give two basic definitions for the noun, perspective:

1.  The representation in a drawing of parallel lines converging to give the illusion of depth and distance.

and

2.  The human capacity to view things in such a way as to see relationships and relative importance.

Those definitions are accurate but do little to explore the importance of perspective in day-to-day living.  They do share the idea of illusion, suggesting that what we see can change depending on lots of things:  our line of sight, expectations and assumptions, past experiences, other people’s views and input, ongoing events, and hundreds of other little things.

Perspective encourages us to look beyond ourselves, see things from other points of view and recognize the varying importance or significance of something.  Perspective says to throw assumptions and common expectations out the window, to look for something new and different. Perspective helps…
