miscellaneous monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

Happy Monday!

Isn’t this a fun tablescape? My friend hosted an event at her house recently and I had to post about this NEW (to me), incredibly yummy Pumpkin Crunch recipe. See the little cupcake holders under the Ferrero Rocher chocolates? Instead of cupcakes, she put in some Pumpkin Crunch dessert. Then, when it was time for dessert, she just passed around a can of spray whip cream for people to put on top of the crunch. How easy and perfect is that?!?

Here’s the recipe, but obviously she didn’t frost it with the cream cheese frosting: https://www.holoholokauaiboattours.com/blog/hawaiian-style-pumpkin-crunch/

Another food-related thing is my NEW proofing box. Many of you may know Leanne Cole’s blog. Well, I’m a huge fan of having the right tools for the job, and I’ve been wanting to learn to make and bake with sourdough for a long time. After reading her post, I purchased a proofing box, and I’ve been baking bread and other items with sourdough!

One of these days, I’ll get a really pretty loaf and actually photograph it, rather than just a snapshot! :o)

Here’s the proofing box I bought. As Leanne mentioned, it’s a bit expensive…for a box! But it is a great tool.

Since this miscellany monday seems to be all about food, I’ll share this last NEW hack I learned recently. So, I’ve been wanting (but putting off getting) these cookie sheet stacker-divider thingamajiggers:

BUT…someone hacked a (maybe) better solution – definitely a cheaper solution! They simply laid two flat pieces of wood over the cookie sheet. Probably like a long paint-stirring stick. I’m gonna try it. I’ll let you know whether I still want the fancy ones or not.

That’s it for today’s miscellany. Have a great week and do or learn something NEW!

a NEW tip for your tablescape endeavors

christmas tablescape

Merry Christmas Eve!  I wasn’t really planning on posting today, because….well, it’s Christmas Eve, and I didn’t think I’d take the time.  But!…as you can see, my table is all set and waiting for dinner to be served.  The hubby is out shoveling snow (for the 2nd or 3rd time today), the boys are involved in a game and so, here I am!

We don’t get the fancy tablecloth and real napkins out too often..because with a house full of boys, well, they really just DON’T CARE!  Yes, the food they care about, but the tablescape, not so much :o)  So I got the fancy Christmas china out today for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner…took a pic of the fancy table…and noticed the  WRINKLED  table-cloth!

Ideally, I’d have taken the time to iron the cloth before I set the table…but (obviously) I didn’t.   It’s then, that I remembered a little trick I saw a very experienced tablescaper perform last year.  We were setting up for a Senior Citizens Christmas brunch last year and after getting the tablecloths out of a bin, and onto the tables, this lady proceeded to spritz all of the tables with a little water from a spray bottle.  It immediately made sense….and I wondered why I’d never thought of this trick or seen anyone else do that!  (Am I the only one this ‘trick’ is NEW to?????)  Ha!   I don’t think I’ll ever really iron a tablecloth ever again….even if I do think about it before I set the table!
