a NEW simple photo and a short Sunday sermon

simplepears2

Happy Sunday!   I’m really, really, REALLY late to Kim Klassen’s ‘Simple Pear’ link up.  Too late to link up…but I saw so many beautifully simple pear photos, that I was totally inspired!  I just had to find time to make it to the market for pears. :o)

I have to say I’m in love with simplicity.  Simple still-life photos are the best!  Simplicity in other areas of life is also SO important.  For my short Sunday sermon, please  watch this message:  EVEN  A CHILD CAN UNDERSTAND…because God would indeed be unjust if the gospel were accessible only to an intellectual elite.  HE keeps it simple!

a NEW quilt…finally finished!

scrapsquilts

Hi all!  I hope you are having a great Wednesday!  I thought I’d better take a pic of this quilt I recently finished because I’m wrapping it today…(to be given away next week).

The to-be recipient has had a pretty hard year …lots of scraps!  I hope she is comforted by this blanket and knows it was made with love.

Now on to the next quilting project.  I figure if I have a quilt constantly in progress, it won’t really matter how slow I am.  They’ll get finished eventually.  (I won’t mention how long this one took me!) :o)

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

NEW Mantle Decor

mantle2

Happy Tuesday!  You know…one thing I love about blogging is, it keeps me somewhat accountable regarding my projects.  I’m sure you don’t remember  (but I do!!!)….that I previously mentioned I’d like to have different mantle décor every month.  Well…that really hasn’t happened in 2014.  BUT, I remember typing that statement, and it IS a true statement…I’ve just gotta make it happen in 2015…or 2016.  SO…here’s November’s décor.  I have stuff for December…but January needs some serious help!  Wish me luck…and any great ideas would be greatly appreciated also!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

truck

Happy Monday!  I’ve previously mentioned how much I appreciate people that do things, simply to make people smile.  I think this truck does exactly that.  This truck lives in a town just south of where I live.  Such a fun idea!  (If you missed the previous post….go HERE for a smile :o)

Well, other than the fun truck and the NEW medical terms I’ve learned lately from having a husband with a broken neck….like: comminuted fracture, Jefferson fracture,  and Miami J brace…here are a few other NEW things that have caught my attention lately:

1 minute 6 pack abs….I like exercises I can incorporate into my daily routine.

AND…

I’ve added a few items to my ‘Should Try Sometime’ pinterest board…such as: DIY lemon extract!  Who knew!

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!!!

a NEW Freemason heirloom photo collage

gparing

The subject of my photo shoot session today was my Grandfather’s Freemason ring.  I never knew my Grandfather, but I’m thrilled to have in my possession something that I know he must have treasured.  I also never knew much about Freemasonry – but the movie National Treasure sure made them sound mysterious, right!?!  Apparently George Washington was Master of his Masonic Lodge:

I have a few other heirlooms I need to photograph…as well as write up some narratives about who they originally belonged to, so future generations will have a physical link to the past.  I also have a goal to make something that will be worthy of being an heirloom someday.  This article: Grandpa’s Cane and Other Heirlooms inspired me to get busy!  Wish me continued motivation! :o)

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW with OLD stuff!

a NEW travel theme photo challenge: Arches

delicatearch

Happy Friday!  When I was browsing through my wordpress reader and saw a few Travel theme: Arch entries, I knew I HAD to join in!  This photo was taken on our vacation a couple of weeks ago…(the evening before Dad broke his neck) at Arches National Park.  I had planned to take pics of many more arches that weekend…but ya know…stuff happens! :o)  You can really see how HUGE this arch is, since the people who hiked up to it look like ants, right?!?
