a NEW project finished

stacyquilt

Happy Wednesday! Whewhoo!  My quilt project is finally finished!  It’s was supposed to be for my DIL’s b-day (in April…she got a gift card instead).  I decided I’d for sure have this done before her next b-day!  :o)  Yet, now I don’t think I can wait that long to give it to her!

So…onto another NEW project.  What should it be??? Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.  I’ll let you know soon.  Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

lighthouse Happy Monday! Well, since I live in the high desert, I don’t see too many {ok – not any!} lighthouses…but I’ve decided it would be fun to keep track of the ones I do come across in our travels.  Here’s a Miscellaneous Monday trivia question:  How many lighthouses are there in the U.S.?…and which state has the most lighthouses? Per Wikipedia: The United States has approximately a thousand lighthouses as well as light towers, range lights, and pier head lights.  Michigan has the most lights of any state with over 150 past and present lights. The top photo is Point Pinos in Pacific Grove, California.  The photo below is Admiralty Head Light on Whidbey Island in Washington state. It will take a lifetime to see even a dozen, since I live so far away from any of them!  But, hey! Eventually, I’ll have a small collection of lighthouse photos.  (Hmmm…Is a collection like….more than two?) washingtonlighthouse Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of the week and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday!  Yes, you guessed it…this is yet another photo of our Monterey trip!  Awww, I think I want to go back.   Well, no, not really…because I prefer to go NEW places that I haven’t been before, but I sure would like to go somewhere else that is just as picturesque. :o)

Alright…for today’s short Sunday sermon, here’s simply a post with 101 scriptures filled with kindness and compassion.  A year or so ago, I went on a scripture memorization kick.  I crammed into my brain close to 100 scriptures, and although I really need to brush up on them, I really enjoyed the experience and gained much from it.  So, when I saw this list of 101 scriptures, I wondered if my brain could fit that many more in it.   I’m going to bookmark the list and work on them.  What a blessing it will be to have words of “kindness” and “compassion” always in the forefront of my mind!  Here’s the list: 101 Scriptures Filled with Kindness and Compassion.

Have a terrific day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

seagull

Happy Monday!  So here is a miscellaneous seagull, drinking from a glass in some miscellaneous outdoor café in Monterey, CA.  Gulls are treated pretty good in Monterey, right?!?

OK, here’s more stuff:  My daughter-in-law says she’s obsessed with the local Waffle Love waffles, so eventually, I want to try making this copycat recipe from Purple Chocolate Home {HERE }…and while I’m at it, I’ll try these Maple Bacon Yeast Waffles.  YUM!

I loved The Piano Guy’s YouTube video shot at Bryce Canyon because the scenery reminds me of home.  They are such a talented duo!     A link to the video is HERE.

a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

cairn

Happy Sunday!  As I mentioned in a previous post, my hubby and I recently enjoyed leisurely walks along the Pacific Coast in Monterey, CA.  On one of those walks, we came across a section where a father and his children had built up dozens of cairns.  Hubby dubbed it ‘Cairn Cove’. :o)  Here’s a pic of just one of many!  It looked like the family was having a great time together.  Yup, family time — such a good thing!  It reminded me of this message…which we’ll use for today’s short Sunday sermon:

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

Happy Monday!  This will be a quick post with a couple of miscellaneous NEW things I’ve noticed lately…then on to tackle the very long to-do list!  You understand, right?!?

1)  I have never heard of BeeSting cake.  Have you???  I first learned about it HERE, and HERE’s the recipe.

2) I’ve never heard of Sprite before (other than the soft drink). Apparently, it is something in the night sky that looks like a gigantic, glowing jellyfish many times the size of Mount Everest.

That’s it…that’s all for today.  Have a perfect day and do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday!  We spent last weekend in beautiful Monterey, California and I have a few pics to share in the next few days. I’ll start with this slower shutter speed photo of rocks, waves and seaweed.  It was great to relax and take walks on the beach with my hubby and enjoy the fresh ocean breezes.

Keeping with the ocean theme, here’s today’s short Sunday sermon:

Why We Need Anchors

The purpose of an anchor is to keep a ship safe and secure at a desired location or to help control the ship during bad weather. However, to accomplish these vital purposes, just having an anchor is not enough. The anchor must be solid, dependable, and used properly at the right time and place.

Individuals and families need anchors as well.

Adversity can come as a great storm to blow us off course and threaten to cast us against the rocks. But sometimes we are also in danger when everything appears to be safe—the winds soft and the waters smooth. In fact, we can be in the greatest danger when we are drifting and movement is so slight that we scarcely notice it.
