NEW stuff i gotta share

brainscience

Happy Wednesday everyone!  As you know, I LOVE learning NEW stuff.  Yet, I frequently wonder….am I really learning this NEW stuff for the first time?…or have I just forgotten about it and then re-learnt it, as if it were NEW?  That feeling reminds me of this funny-ism:

Nevertheless, I’d like to share NEW stuff I’ve learned about this week:

Brain Training  (Because I’m a certified brain science junkie too!)

NEW Culinary Terms….I recently made a NEW recipe that asked me to make a roux, so I was curious of what other culinary terms I didn’t know and researched some NEW ones.  However, you’ll notice that ‘roux’ isn’t listed!  So FYI: Roux:  A cooked mixture of butter of other fat and flour used to thicken sauces, soups, etc.

And lastly, I learned that I WANT (badly) a set of lens extensions…cuz macro lenses are too darn expensive!  I learned more about lens extensions HERE.

Have a great day!  Learn (or re-learn) something NEW today!

a great NEW find…museum putty

putty

OK!…Why haven’t I known about museum putty before now???? It’s an organizer’s best friend and I’m so sad that I’ve been without it in my life (until recently)!

I like organizing my drawers with plastic dividers…but they frequently slide around inside the drawer as I open and close the drawer. Well NO MORE! Yeah!

I have no affiliation with this company…but apparently, this sticky stuff was made to keep ancient pottery on a museum shelf during an earthquake.  So, I think it will definitely keep my drawer organizers neat and tidy! I’m so glad I found out about it! Now I’m going to go re-organize ALL my drawers.

Have a great day! Do, learn, OR FIND something NEW!

a NEW surprise…or a Christmas Miracle?

pepperminticecream2

Ok, ok…last night, when I excitedly exclaimed, “It’s a Christmas Miracle!!!”…I might have taken our delightful surprise a bit far.  Since, yeah…really, it’s only ice cream. :o)

Last night after Sunday dinner and pleasant conversation, my husband asked Grandma if she would like some ice cream.  The conversation turned to the topic of ‘Why isn’t there Peppermint Ice Cream in the stores?  They’ve always had that flavor this time of year in the past!” (It’s our favorite…especially at Christmas time…in case you couldn’t tell).

Well, you can imagine our surprise when my hubby opened up the carton!  A Christmas Miracle!!!!  {Well, perhaps not really a miracle…but still….!)

a NEW healthy habit

LemonJuice3{source}

I’ve formed a NEW healthy habit!  {I’ve been doing this for a while now…so I think I can say it’s truly a habit } :o)  Each morning, I juice half a lemon into a full glass of water and chug it down (yup, sour!…but you get used to it).   Years ago, I read how good lemons are for you, and I remember going on a lemon tangent; but, of course, that didn’t last too long.  So this time, I’m not going to over-do it…just a 1/2 lemon a day and I think I can maintain this healthy habit.  Check out these benefits of drinking lemon water:

Try it (or something else NEW)!

Hunting…another NEW Christmas tradition

nativity{source}

A few days ago, my son’s friend asked us if we ever go Christmas Light Hunting.  Huh? What is that?  Apparently it’s just driving around looking for beautiful Christmas light displays.  Well, yes….we do that EVERY.SINGLE.Christmas Eve!  So, I guess we’ll have to start calling it what it is…Christmas Light Hunting!

BUThere’s another GREAT idea that I just read about today!  Hunt for houses that are displaying a Nativity…and when you find one, drop a ‘Thank you for displaying the Reason for the Season’ card in their mailbox paperbox!  LOVE that idea!  Since we’re out hunting anyway, we’re going to add that to our tradition!  Some people are soooooo smart!

a NEW Christmas Tradition

bookchristmaswishvideochristmaswish

For a few years now, I’ve read this short little book toward the beginning of each December.  I’ve enjoyed starting off the Christmas season this way.  I like the mystery aspect of this little book, and I love how, every year, the book makes me want to be a better person….(by emulating the example of the deceased grandfather in the story).

I just ordered the DVD off Amazon.  So, from now on, for a NEW Christmas tradition I can either read the book or watch the video!  I hope the video is as good as the book…I’ll let you know! 🙂

Happy December!  Do or Learn something NEW!
