a NEW photo and NEW books to read {so many books on my list!}

sculpturegirlreadingfr

Happy Wednesday!

I snapped this pic this week in a lovely NEW garden that was recently completed close to my gym.  I think it was a city project, but whoever it was, they did a really good job.  This statue and another of a boy and girl twirling a jump rope was included in the area — and all the flowers there were just gorgeous!

I also recently learned of a NEW source for finding good books to read. Although, my to-read list is far too long as it is! Especially from BookClub Mom’s awesome reviews! My niece was recently telling me about The Tournament of Books where every Spring, when March Madness Basketball is going on, there’s a book tournament where people vote for books.  They’ve been doing it a long time and past tournament winners are listed on the site. So many good books, so little time!

Have a great day! Do or read something NEW!

a NEW taste Tuesday…copycat Swig cookies

swigcookiesfr

Happy Tuesday!

There’s a locate cookie/soda shop called Swig. I’ve heard people rave over their cookies and although I haven’t personally stopped by, I did try this copycat recipe.  I tried it because it was EASY (and delicious).  These are sugar cookies, but they’re quick because they’re drop cookies.  I got the link from my sister’s daughter-in-law (I guess that’s my neice-in-law?). Anyway, she got the recipe from The Bountiful Kitchen, which is a new site to me.  I think I’ll have to poke around that site a bit — it looked like there were other amazing recipes there too.

Have a great day.  Do or bake something NEW.

a NEW photo and a short Sunday sermon

butchartgardensfr

Happy Sunday!  So I’ve shared a lot of my closeup shots from Butchart Gardens, but here’s an overview of it…(although, it’s only one section of that huge, gorgeous place).  And for today’s short sermon, I’ll simply share an overview of what the Book of Mormon is all about – because I know so many people who just haven’t taken the time to find out. This video (HERE) is less than 3 minutes long, but hopefully you’ll learn something NEW.

Have a wonderful day!

a NEW photo of my week

blackeyedsusans

Happy Friday!  When I saw that Cee’s Flower of the Day was Blackeyed Susans, I quickly grabbed this photo to share. One of my sisters that went to Victoria with us last week is named Susan.  My mother says she named her that because Susan had such black eyes when she was a baby.

Anyway, I’ll link up to Cee’s page.  Enjoy your day – and do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

beeatbutchartfr

Happy Monday!  Here’s (one of many) pics from the beautiful Butchart Gardens in Victoria BC.  I wish I knew what kind of plant this is. If anyone can enlighten me, please do. I’m sad I didn’t get a better shot of the bumblebee for you. 🙂

OK, for today miscellany:

I caught me a NEW cold last week (not fun).  I always seem to catch something every time I hop on an airplane!  Can anyone give me any tips on how I can avoid that?  Please???!!!  I meant to overrun my system with vitamin C beforehand, but forgot.  I also seem to remember a SharkTank episode where someone invented some semi-inconspicuous thing to go over your nose that kept out all the airborne junk, but I can’t remember if any of the sharks went for it.

Another random thing…we bought NEW pickleball racquets and have had fun playing at a nearby park. Who plays pickleball?  Have you played in any tournaments?

I bought a NEW compost bin that spins…does anyone have any tips for making sure you have the right nitrogen/carbon ratio?  I gotta get me some dried up leaves to go with my kitchen scraps…soon.

I recently saw this kayak that folds up! How cool (and expensive) is that?!?  I would love to get one (well, we’d probably need two) and do this road trip:  Drive to Moses Lake, WA and kayak that lake.  Do a day-trip to Lake Lenore (I didn’t know there was such a place for a really long time).  Head to Coeur d’Alene ID and kayak on that beautiful blue water (I drove by once, and that blue water took my breath away!)  Visit Glacier National Park, then kayak on nearby Flathead Lake.  Then come home.  How does that plan sound?  If anyone has been to any of the above, feel free to share tips or recommendations.  I figure if I put my vacation plans/ travel bucket lists in writing, perhaps eventually they will actual happen.

That’s enough random stuff for today.  Have a good one and do or learn something NEW today!

NEW boat photos of my week

boat1

Happy Wednesday!

I think I’m obsessed with boats – or at least photographing boats on calm, beautiful blue water!  It must be because I live in the desert.  I recently went on a girls weekend getaway to Seattle and Victoria, BC.  It was a fun sister-party! Here are more boat pics from the weekend – and boy, do I have tons of botanical pics from Butchart Gardens to share (eventually).

Someone had fun sailing between the San Juan islands.

This is a twin of the ferry we waited three hours to get on, to go to BC!  Who knew it was a Canadian holiday and a three-day weekend!!??!!  Note to sisters – check Canadian calendar next time!  Here…I’ll save us the trouble: Canadian Statutory Holidays.

I should make a jigsaw puzzle out of the one above, eh? It would be a tough one. :o)

boat3

White on blue – one of my favorite color schemes!

And…one more…a tiny boat among docked boats:

a NEW {fabulous} hike

kfalls2

Happy Friday!  Well, recently hubby and I took a short weekend getaway and went on this hike that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now (remember I told you about it a few posts back? :o).  It did not disappoint! Such a fun hike…and beautiful, am I right?!?

For most of the hike, we were trekking through this creek bed and I’m SO glad we invested in some trekking poles for this one!  Our boys really razzed us when we got home and they saw our poles, but I’m tellin’ ya, those wet, mossy, river rocks are slippery suckers, and if we wouldn’t have had those poles, we’d have been a LOT wetter than we were!

I have plenty more pics from this hike that I’ll likely share (hopefully they won’t get too tiring).

Have a great day! Pick out a NEW hike and put it on your to-explore list!
