a NEW photo of my week

poppies1

Happy Tuesday!  I finally got a chance to go to the poppy field to shoot over the weekend. I have a few more photos I’ll likely share in upcoming posts. 🙂

We had a nice, but busy and productive long weekend.  Sometimes it’s good just to stay home on Memorial Day weekend!  Friday was busy with high school graduation and festivities afterward. I got some projects underway, and even enjoyed a couple of games of racquetball with hubby.  Family dinners on Sunday and Monday made for a very nice weekend.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

lilacsbyfence2

Happy Monday!

My lilacs are fading, but I have loved having their beauty just outside my window for the past few weeks!  And…what about other miscellaneous stuff?  Here ya go:

Probably over a year ago, I noticed a recommended place to eat on Seize the Day RV Adventure blog and put that on my ‘to-do’ list too (because I had already heard good things about this little restaurant). The Pastry Pub in Cedar City, UT has lots of menu selections.  I already know I need to return – probably later this summer because I want to go to the Shakespearean Festival and also hike Kanarraville Falls this year (photo of the falls below…not my own – I’ll share my own later this summer!)

Another very miscellaneous thing is my new obsession with this blog I recently discovered: The Long Victorian THE LITERARY WORLD OF THE LONG NINETEENTH CENTURY, C.1789 – 1914.  —Because of little snippets I’ve read on this blog, I’ve downloaded and listened to Ethan Frome on my road trip last weekend, then scanned the movie clips on YouTube of the move with Liam Neeson.  I had already read ‘The Woman in White’ by Wilkie Collins, but I wanted to refresh my memory of it, so I watched the movie version. I just find myself looking forward to this site’s posts, so I can learn something NEW about the nineteenth century that I may not have already known.  You should check it out!

And that’s about it for today.  Have a great week.  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

reddaisyfr

Happy Sunday!  I wanted to wait until closer to the 4th of July to post this red, white and blue photo, but…well, I just couldn’t wait. :o)

And…here’s a great quote and message for today’s short Sunday sermon by President Thomas S. Monson:

“In the search for our best selves, several questions will guide our thinking: Am I what I want to be? Am I closer to the Savior today than I was yesterday? Will I be closer yet tomorrow? Do I have the courage to change for the better?”

All good questions to ask ourselves regularly.

Have a great day. Learn or do something NEW!

a NEW thought Thursday

Here’s another quote from Jen’s Blog. I wasn’t sure who Rumi was…so in case you aren’t either…you can check out this Wiki Article.  However, I must confess, if I immediately responded to everything that excited my spirit, I might not get anything accomplished.  So, people – if you’re like me…be responsible in your responding…but DO respond! :o)  Have a terrific day!

a NEW taste Tuesday

Cookies, cookies, cookies! So many varieties…and I want to try as many NEW flavors as I can.  These are Peanut Butter cookies with a Hershey’s Kiss plopped on top – just as they come out of the oven {recipe below}. However I really want to try these NEW recipes:

Twix Cookies, Blueberry Cream Cheese Cookies, Coconut Lime Shortbread cookies, and Red Velvet Gooey Butter cookies.
