NEW photos of my week

magcollageframed

Oh man…I’m so excited! Finally NEW signs of Spring!!!  Life!  Color! YEAH!  Something to photograph!  Since our winter has been so mild, we hardly even had any pretty snow to photograph.  Thus my excitement for Spring!

I was thrilled that I (for once) had my cameras in my car.  This magnolia tree is at my work, so that was convenient…and so gorgeous!

Have a great day.  Do or learn something NEW!

another NEW heirloom collage

momclassring1

Happy Wednesday!  I created this collage a few weeks ago, but must have forgot to post it.  I’m trying to take photos of all of my heirlooms…little by little.  I received this class ring at the same time my mother gave me my grandfathers freemason ring (previous post HERE). I think a photo book with a history of all the items and who they belonged to will be a treasure.

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff I gotta share

eggs

Happy Monday!  Well, the NEW stuff I gotta share this week are a bunch of NEW breakfast recipes.  We’re kind of in a breakfast rut around here…and you know we REALLY dislike ruts!  So thank you internet (Pinterest, specifically, and Google generally) for making NEW recipes to try so easy to find!  Here ya go:

CASSEROLES:

Broccoli, Ham and Mozzarella Bake with Eggs  (Must try!  We LOVE broccoli at our house!)

Hillbilly Breakfast Bake (Looks super easy to put together!)

PANCAKES, WAFFLES AND FRENCH TOAST:

Blueberry Dutch Baby Pancakes  (I love sticking the pancakes in the oven and walking away for a bit (instead of flipping pancakes on the griddle)!

Blender French Toast with Coconut Syrup  (Coconut ANYTHING always calls my name)

BREAKFAST ON THE GO:

Freezer breakfast sandwiches  (Making ahead and freezing sounds so efficient!)

Spinach Quiche Cups (Sounds somewhat healthy, right?)

I’ll report after I make these and give you all our review/opinion.  In the meantime, have a great day and Do or Learn, or cook something NEW!

a NEW photo of the week and a short Sunday sermon

starfish

Happy Sunday!  I don’t even remember when or where I got these little starfish, but they sure were fun to photograph and edit-play with.  Why haven’t I noticed them sitting on my bookshelf before???

Anyway…isn’t it true that the more we do, the more we really can do?!?  A few Sunday’s ago, I had an assignment to visit a different church congregation than my normal one.  The speaker that day mentioned that the young people in that ward had a very ambitious goal.  They were going to do 5000 acts of service in 5 months.  I am not sure how large their youth group is, so I’m not sure exactly how ambitious that goal is, but I LOVED the idea!  This is a poster with the church-wide youth theme for this year, and this link HERE is an article about how many other youth groups will be ‘Embarking’ on service this year.

Again, I think this theme is GREAT! Service to others is so important…so fulfilling….and such a blessing (for both the giver and the receiver).  Have a wonderful day!  Do, Learn, OR SERVE someone NEW today!

a NEW textured tuesday photo

vase

Happy Tuesday!  I took advantage of my day off yesterday to get some shooting in.  It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to!  There was too much winter-dead stuff outside, so I stayed indoors and shot some still-life.  I love using prop items that I’ve received as gifts because they remind me of the wonderful people in my life.  I received the vase from my son and daughter-in-law in a gift basket with other items as a ‘thank you’ after their wedding.  That was thoughtful of them!  Although that day WAS all about them, they realized it took a lot of time and effort from everyone else, so their ‘thank you’ meant a lot!  The doily was made from a dear friend of my Mother’s that I haven’t seen in years.  She gave us this doily along with a few others for our wedding (SO many years ago!)  It was good to think of her as I captured this shot.

Hope you all have a terrific day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

window2

Happy Monday! So, what’s NEW?  Well, other than this very miscellaneous window photo, let’s see…I finished a couple of books recently:

books2

Left To Tell was an excellent true story of an amazing young woman who survived horrific circumstances.  I was almost reluctant to read it, thinking it might be just another depressing book of killing, torture and pain, but the writer focused on the young woman’s strength to overcome, instead of the gory details of the Rwandan holocaust.  It was a very good book and I’m glad I read it.

The Happiness of Pursuit was a fun read.  I enjoyed reading about all the different ‘Quests’ people feel compelled to undertake.  I love a good challenge, but I’ve never attempted something so huge that it would be considered pursuing a quest.  This was a fun read…and kind of inspirational, in a way.  The power of determination is a great thing!  Some of the stories in the book reminded me of these quotes:

The difference between try and triumph is a little umph.  Author Unknown

AND

“Efficiency and focus are the keys to success” Robert Crais

Additionally…a NEW recipe we tried recently was Herb Crusted Pork Tenderloin.  It received ‘thumbs up’ from everyone!

I hope you all have a terrific day!  Let me know what’s NEW with all of you!!!

NEW monochrome photos of my week and a short Sunday sermon

vcookiesbw

Happy Sunday!  How was everyone’s Valentine’s Day?  I hope it was “happy”!  I decided to take some non-traditional monochrome photos of our valentine sugar cookies.  Is that weird?

Also, going along with the Valentine’s Day theme…today’s short Sunday sermon is one simple question:

WHICH IS THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT?

Jesus’ reply can be found in Matthew 22:36.  Here’s your hint:
