Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

window2

Happy Monday! So, what’s NEW?  Well, other than this very miscellaneous window photo, let’s see…I finished a couple of books recently:

books2

Left To Tell was an excellent true story of an amazing young woman who survived horrific circumstances.  I was almost reluctant to read it, thinking it might be just another depressing book of killing, torture and pain, but the writer focused on the young woman’s strength to overcome, instead of the gory details of the Rwandan holocaust.  It was a very good book and I’m glad I read it.

The Happiness of Pursuit was a fun read.  I enjoyed reading about all the different ‘Quests’ people feel compelled to undertake.  I love a good challenge, but I’ve never attempted something so huge that it would be considered pursuing a quest.  This was a fun read…and kind of inspirational, in a way.  The power of determination is a great thing!  Some of the stories in the book reminded me of these quotes:

The difference between try and triumph is a little umph.  Author Unknown

AND

“Efficiency and focus are the keys to success” Robert Crais

Additionally…a NEW recipe we tried recently was Herb Crusted Pork Tenderloin.  It received ‘thumbs up’ from everyone!

I hope you all have a terrific day!  Let me know what’s NEW with all of you!!!

a NEW photo for A Lingering Look At Windows

window

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  When I took this photo of this window on our vacation, I specifically thought about the  ‘A Lingering Look at Windows’ link up….but then it took a while to sift through the vacation photos!  This is at a very public spot….can anyone recognize this window?  Ok, ok…a hint:  It’s in the state of Oregon.  Anyone? Anyone? :o)   A gold star for anyone who gets it right!

Have a great day!  Do or Learn something NEW!

I recently read this article titled, “The Photography Tips that 96 Photographers Wish They Would’ve Learned Sooner”  and I thought there were some really good ideas in it.  I’ve been known to ‘Go out shooting’ and hope something would pop out and inspire me.  But today, I tried to implement Lesson #1 from the article.   I envisioned this shot, planned and then created it.  You’ll probably find this shocking, but it wasn’t raining today….I spritzed the window with water from a spray bottle!  Before I read this article, I might have felt like that was cheating!  🙂

Next, I’ll have to work on Lesson #2, because I could REALLY get better at reading my histogram.

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!
