a NEW endeavor (wish me luck)

gecko2

Hi all!  Ok…here’s my announcement:  I am committed to taking a photo a day of our normal, every day family life and making some sort of Project Life scrapbook after 30 days.  You know, I do have a smart phone, and it has been “reminding” me to do this for some time now!  How come I haven’t been do it?  Dunno!  But today I started and by blogging about it and saying that I’m committed….well, I’ll let you know.  Yes, I really want to do this, so in 30 days I’ll report.  Then soon after, I’ll show you my 30 day scrapbook.

I made scrapbooks for each of my boys when they were little, but since they’ve become teenagers, well….they simply don’t stop long enough for me to take their pictures very often.  I loved watching them flip through their ‘books’ when they were younger.  I loved that they felt special to have a book ‘All About Them’!  And that’s still important….so again, I’m committed!  If the photo above was taken within this 30 days and was in the Project Life scrapbook, I know my boys would love reminiscing about watching that lizard (or whatever it technically is) climb up the side of the building in Grand Cayman after they swam with the dolphin.  Fun times!  Maybe I’ll have to cheat and include that one anyway :o)

If this is something you’d like to try, there are tons of great ideas to get you started. I just bookmarked “9 Clever Ideas for Project Life from Pinterest” at Kiss and Tell Scrapbooking for some inspiration.

What NEW thing are  you going to do or learn today?

I’m reading a NEW book

book

I love to read and wish I had more time to do so.  This weekend I started a NEW book that was recommended to me.  I love, loVE, LOVE recommended books from friends and family because there’s nothing worse than spending time reading a book you don’t enjoy…right?    What a waste of time!  Recommended books, at least, have a better chance of enjoyment than just random books.  I’m all for time efficiency!  I’m also loving Shelfari.com where I can keep track of the books I’ve read and also the books I want to read.  It’s a virtual bookshelf.  I once started a book that sounded quite familiar and I wondered aloud to my husband if we’d maybe seen a movie with the same plot as I was reading.  He mentioned he thought he’d seen me read that book before.  Oops!  He was right!  I had read the book before and had simply forgotten I had.  So now I also type a short summary into Shelfari to jog my memory of what the book was about, in case I have that problem in the future.    My shelfari page is strictly for my reference.  I don’t really have time to use it for any social media purposes, but I love having it available!  Some of my friends use GoodReads, and I’m sure there are other sites out there.  If you like to read and haven’t tried a similar site….try something NEW!  You’ll like it!  OR pick up a NEW book!….and be sure to let me know of any good recommendations!

NEW Photos of My Week #8

alpinewreathframed

I’m finally (sort of) caught up with things from being gone on our trip, so I went out shooting today.  BRRRRR!!!!  It was below freezing and there was a very cold wind blowing.  I tried to find shots that I could quickly roll down my window and get!  Does that make me a lousy photographer?  Wimpy huh?  But seriously, it was really cold!  Here’s what I got…..fireplace, here I come!

NEW (Second-hand) Photograhy Props

I’m excited about my NEW photography props!  Recently I saw this photo and FELL IN LOVE with it…

…and I thought to myself… ‘I absolutely NEED those precious items in my prop chest’!!!  So after work today I drove straight to the second-hand market, and wha-LA!  Yeah!  They actually had a retro beater!  I’m still on the hunt for a retro flour sifter, but I’m thrilled!

I was visiting Finding Serendipity blog lately and the author’s description of her love for photography EXACTLY defines my love also.  She said…and I quote…..”My love of photography continues to grow. It feeds my desire to blog, which in
turn, feeds my desire to shoot more.”   That is me….exactly!

What NEW thing can you be excited about today?

a NEW muddy buddie variety

pepbuddies

Tonight I tried a NEW flavor of Muddy Buddies…Peppermint!  Tis the season, right?!?  I have a list of different varieties I want to eventually try.  What a versatile snack!  And if I get ambitious, I’ll have to try and create my own specialty….I’ll get back with you on that :o)

I tried the Peppermint from this recipe at The Recipe Critic.  The Cookies and Cream Muddy Buddies look yummy at Chef In Training.   And Just a Pinch has a lemon muddy buddie recipe I plan to try.

Try something NEW today!….if only simply a NEW flavor!

NEW explorations in the Caribbean

flag

Hi all! I’m back! Although I had a few pre-scheduled posts, I actually haven’t touched a computer since November 21st! I’ve been exploring NEW things in the Caribbean. Our family took a cruise and it was so much fun….but now it’s back to real life…and that’s OK too :o)

My favorite stop was Jamaica.  Did you know they have a female Prime Minister?   Check out the Wiki for more info.  We had a blast zip lining through the Jamaican jungle, and hiking Dunns River Falls.  Ya Man!

It was great exploring NEWness in a different part of the world!  Have a terrific day and learn or do something NEW today!

NEW sheet music to play

I LOVE living in this age of technology!  I was recently really tired of all my sheet music and wanted something NEW to play (Imagine that! :o)  It was about 7am on a Saturday morning, (when all the music stores were still closed),  and I was downloading me some NEW tunes to play!  Awesome!

I’ve used AaronWaite.com and MusicNotes.com.  Both sites let you listen to a sample of the piece before you download it!  And Presto! New sheet music to start learning ASAP!  I just think it’s a great time to live!

NEW tree decor

It seems that for the last 99 years (or at least 9) I’ve been saying “Next year I’m getting NEW tree ornaments”!  Seriously!  Each year the Christmas season seemed to come and go too quickly and it never happened.  Yet, this year it happened!  I’m soooo thrilled! Yeah! NEW tree and ornaments!  Woohoo!  Merry Christmas!
