Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.

NEW racquetball tip
I LOVE to play racquetball! Have you seen the NEW pink balls?
I like playing with them because I tend to see the ball better. They’re brighter! However one of my opponents says he hates them…so maybe it’s a gender thing (?) I’m going to try some NEW techniques. I’m especially going to work on this one:
{On your drive serves, it is better to be short on your first attempt, as this can be adjusted by ball drop or aim point on the front wall. Keep your drive serves from hitting the side wall. You want to angle your serve to the corners to force your opponent to a deeper position in the back of the court.}
This tip and others were found at rbdepot.com Check them out and find a partner and play racquetball or some other NEW game!
a bit of NEW efficiency
When my husband opened a kitchen drawer this week and found a carabiner full of ponytail bands he said, “What?…umm Why? Here?…Why?” I explained that I needed some NEW efficiency! Every time I cook in the kitchen, I tie up my hair (obvious reasons, right?)…and I have to take the time to go find a hair-band (climb the stairs, hunt through bathroom drawers etc). Thus… THIS in the utensil drawer!
How can you have NEW efficiency?
NEW cookie presentation
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve extremely enjoyed browsing and learning cookie decorating tips at Sweetopia, University of Cookie and Karen’s Cookies. It was either on one of those sites or maybe somewhere else that they suggested putting cute scrapbook paper behind a cookie before putting it in a bag to give as a gift. (They did warn that sometimes the butter from the cookie makes the paper greasy looking) SO…here’s my NEW tip: Laminate several different colors of scrapbook paper and have them on hand for gift bags.
NO MORE GREASY PAPER!
What can you tweak to make NEW and better?
NEW family tree tools
One of my passions in life is learning about my family tree. I find it fascinating how the internet has exploded with incredible resources to trace family lines! Have you tried it? If not, go to Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org or CyndisList.com, to find something NEW about your family tree!
But watch out! It’s addicting! I could spend hours at a time doing family history research! The picture above is an old Methodist church in Westernville, New York. I really enjoyed visiting there this summer! LOVED that little village! My ancestor, Edwin Anderson was a Methodist minister in the late 1800’s and most likely preached in that very church! Although Edwin’s family line is a tough one to research! (If anyone out there in the blogosphere has any info of the Alanson and Lucy (Holland) Anderson family from Westernville, NY, be sure to let me know!!! :o)
BTW, you all know I love photography….check out this AWESOME HDR pic of the Westernville church by smichik on Flickr:

a NEW tool organizer
OK…this tool organizer is actually ‘well established’ in my garage. (Not new at all!) However, when other people see it for the first time, they always ohh and ahh and want this ‘NEW’ thing in their garage too! Why? Because it’s genius! It holds about 4 times more tools than regular hook organizers. You see, you can hang them 4 deep in the same amount of space!
I just have to chuckle when I see ‘organizers’ like these:
(Well, I admit they’d be just fine…if you only own 4 or 5 tools). Sorry I can’t give you the reference of the magazine we originally got the plans from (too long ago to remember). But I tried to take close-ups so you could make a copy-cat version if you so desired.
Do you have any “well established” ideas that others think are NEW? Please share!
a NEW recommendation
I LOVE photography and have learned soooo much from the website AdoramaTV. It has tons of wonderful video tutorials about all aspects of photography! Very informative and easy to follow along! It’s MUCH better than reading a dry book about aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc. I highly recommend it! (And no, they didn’t pay me for this recommendation….they don’t even know I exist!) My favorite tutor is Mark Wallace. He explains everything very clearly!

a NEW game shelf
I love our NEW game shelf that my husband made for us recently! This cute shelf at Martha Stewart’s site inspired me, while we were in the middle of finishing the basement teenage man-cave. Although the xbox and the ping-pong table typically see more action from my boys than our new game table/shelf, I can occasionally get someone to sit down with me for a game of chess :o) Plus I think it used up a good amount of wallspace….so I don’t have to find ‘decor’ to fill it up! Yeah!
I’m linking to these parties:
a NEW hobby

I’m excited to explore a NEW hobby! Have you seen the GORGEOUS decorated sugar cookies that are everywhere? I’ve been researching as many tips as I can…now it’s down to the PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT stage. Wish me luck!
A few FABULOUS sites for inspiration, tips and techniques are University of Cookie, Karen’s Cookies, and Sweetopia!
