a NEW Texture Tuesday photo

gardenandlibrary

Happy Tuesday!  It’s pretty much true that if you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need!  I automatically picture a flower garden as a necessity, but I’m sure whoever originally said that probably meant vegetable garden. :o)

Have a great day!  Do or learn…or grow…something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

mtnstreamquote

Happy Monday!  So, what’s NEW with you?  I’m just quickly going to list a few miscellaneous/very random items from around the internet I’ve noticed lately.  Maybe you’ll be interested in some of them too.

My NEW favorite YouTube channel:  Phlearn “They make learning photography and photoshop FUN!”

I recently watched some old Carol Burnett Bloopers.  She was such a crack up!!!

I have over ONE THOUSAND royal icing decorated sugar cookie pins on my ‘Cookie’ Pinterest board!  I’ve really gotta find some time to make some of them!  (Maybe if I’d quit pinning so many pictures of cookies and start baking some, that would help, HUH? :o)

I’ve got some pine nuts on hand, so I’m going to try Recipe Girl’s Santa Fe Chicken for dinner this Sunday.  Actually, my fabulous hubby always cooks on Sundays…so I guess he’ll be trying it out :o)  (Well, come to think of it, I think I’d better help more than usual this week….new recipes kind of stress him out)

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!!!

a NEW photo of my week #58 and a short Sunday sermon

fenceandflowers

Happy Sunday!  I walked by this lovely yard recently…not sure why the empty pots are stored there on the fence like that…(?)…but their yard sure was gorgeous!

For a short Sunday sermon, here’s a quote from a talk I listened to a while back.  I think it is very true.

Margaret D. Nadauld taught: “The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.

Here’s the FULL TALK where that was quoted.  (Just in case you’d like a longer Sunday sermon :o)  Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

a NEW recipe…puffs

creampuff2

Happy Friday!  I don’t know why I don’t make homemade cream puffs more often…they are SO easy!  I had to go hunt for a NEW recipe, because I haven’t made these in so long, I really don’t know what recipe I used before.  Seriously, these are just as easy, if not easier, than making a batch of chocolate chip cookies!

I was actually craving shrimp puffs first…YUM!  But I made both cream puffs and shrimp puffs since I had so many puffs to fill.

Here is the recipe for the puffs:

Here is the recipe for the shrimp filling.  (For cream filling, just use your favorite pudding…5-minute Jello instant chocolate pudding worked GREAT for us!)

a NEW edited photo of my week

editminis

Happy Wednesday!  You know…sometimes you start playing around with photos and never know how they’ll turn out.  This isn’t typically my ‘style’, but it sure was fun creating it!  I never really imagined I’d turn out something this….this…abstract? weird? crazy?  I’m just trying out NEW methods.  It’s kind of liberating!

These pumpkins that I picked up from the store today went from this… to this…to this:

Have a great day!  Try something WEIRD and out of your norm today!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

monocollage

Happy Monday!  So along with the above collage of miscellaneous monochromes…here’s a few other random things I’ve found interesting lately:

I saw this recently and loved it!

marktwainbicycle

The décor at my hubby’s work office…(the very few personal items he has there, at least)… is a bicycle theme – so I HAD to print this out and frame it for him to take to work.  :o)  It made me laugh.

I also recently read…

confcode

…and enjoyed it very much.  Why?  Because I’m such a brain science junkie, I guess.  It had lots of research backing up their statements.  I saw a lot of truth in it…just from observing people throughout the years.  To boil it down very simply:  Confidence is linked to DOING.  The more we DO something, the more confident we are that we can succeed at it.  I know that’s not rocket science, but the book had a lot of really good advice – especially for women, and it was well-written.

And lastly, as tradition goes…here’s my weekly NEW food find:  I’ve never heard of taro root before – not to mention taro root ice cream.  Sounds interesting!  I hope to try it….sometime. :o)

a NEW photo of my week #56 and a short Sunday sermon

lanternbrokeframed

Happy Sunday!  I chose to post this broken lantern today because this photo reminds me that we are all broken (or, at least, we are all imperfect)…but we can still be a light to others.  Our imperfections can be forgiven through the atonement of Jesus Christ.  I love Sister Chieko Okazaki’s explanation of the atonement and what Christ did for each one of us…individually.

a NEW very tragic family history find

Fatal Barn Raising Accident June 1899

Hey!  Happy Friday!  I haven’t been out shooting lately {I really need to before the fall colors disappear!}…but I’ve been spending hours and hours and hours on family history.  I think I’ll take a break and at least do the dishes. :o)

I thought I’d share the story of one family I’ve been researching.  They had a very sad week in June of 1899.  A brother and a brother-in-law were helping with a barn raising and something went terribly wrong and the wall they were putting up crashed down on them (and other men).  The two family members died and then one of their wives died from the shock of hearing of her husband’s death!  (Now I’m just so curious to know if she had a weak heart to begin with, OR WHAT?!?…I don’t think I’ll ever know.)  Sad times!

Ok…the dishes are calling my name.  Have a great weekend!  Do or learn something NEW!
