Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff I gotta share

daffcollage

Oh! I’m so excited that Spring is finally coming…(although we had a few snow flurries today)…I’m certain more and more color will arrive and be waiting for me to photograph it soon!  Yeah!!!

Well today, along with these NEW daffodils and grape hyacinths, I want to share a couple of other NEW miscellaneous/random items that have caught my attention lately:

Here’s a NEW photography tip I learned this week, called the Sunny 16 Rule.  Interesting!  Since photography is very subjective to a variety of factors of conditions and camera settings,  I was a bit surprised that this ‘Rule’ even existed.  Too bad I didn’t learn this rule in the dead of winter, when I could’ve practiced it on the white landscape of December, January and February!  Oh well, maybe next year!

Another random thing…I just have to say how much I LOVE being in a book club.  First, it pretty much forces me to read books I’m sure I wouldn’t come across and read on my own.  (And they have ALL been REALLY GOOD books)!!!  But I think my favorite thing about my book club is listening to different perspectives.  It’s kind of an added education, all its own.  This month’s book was Unraveled by Julie Daines….

…and it was so interesting to hear the other women in the group  comment how they’d really like their daughters to read this book.  Since I have only sons, these thoughts obviously didn’t enter my mind, but I can absolutely understand their perspective…when I think about it.  The book has a strong message about the importance of appreciating our inner-beauty – something I too would like my daughter to read (if I had a daughter)!  I just really love reading and sharing thoughts about the books we’ve read in our group.  If you don’t belong to a book club….FIND ONE TO JOIN!  Seriously! 🙂

trying out a NEW photography tip

I recently read this article titled, “The Photography Tips that 96 Photographers Wish They Would’ve Learned Sooner”  and I thought there were some really good ideas in it.  I’ve been known to ‘Go out shooting’ and hope something would pop out and inspire me.  But today, I tried to implement Lesson #1 from the article.   I envisioned this shot, planned and then created it.  You’ll probably find this shocking, but it wasn’t raining today….I spritzed the window with water from a spray bottle!  Before I read this article, I might have felt like that was cheating!  🙂

Next, I’ll have to work on Lesson #2, because I could REALLY get better at reading my histogram.

Have a great day!  Do or learn something NEW!

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW random stuff i gotta share

waterwheel2

Happy Monday!  I just got home from yoga and thought I’d hurry and post a few miscellaneous items before heading off to work.  So…along with this random waterwheel photo from my archives, I thought I’d share a good app that my son recommended.  He’s a bodybuilder type and we recently asked him about some specific exercises we should be doing.  He said, ‘Just download Body Space app’…which I did.  They have an exercise database which I really like!  No more getting bored of the same ol’ exercises for different body parts.  You all know I love NEW stuff!

Also, here’s a good video clip.  I’m fascinated with accelerated learning:

NEW photos of my week #40

I finally remembered to take pics for Scavenger Hunt Sunday!  {Amazing!}  The list this week was: See, Sea or C  (I chose candy!); Chair, Symmetry (feathers are amazingly symmetrical)!;  Blanket and Giggle.  It’s nice to go hunting for shots this time of year, because beautiful shots don’t just pop out of this frozen tundra on their own…its not as photogenic as some might assume! Ha! :o)

As you can see, I’m still playing around with my extension tubes…do you like my pin cushion?  Yeah, wow huh?  Well, once summer comes, maybe I’ll get to shoot some cool caterpillars or butterflies or something more exciting :o)

I LOVE the last line of that poem!  Those are my thoughts exactly :o) Take me, oh take me to anywhere NEW!  {Hawaii would be nice}
