a NEW finished quilt

quilt

Happy Tuesday!  Today I thought I’d simply share my NEW quilt that I just finished over the weekend.  I tried something NEW…I used spray-on basting adhesive.  My review is mixed…it stuck the three layers together well, but I had a few puckers that were hard to get out.  It was probably me – just being a newbie, but I’m not sure I’ll use it again.  Because, if I spend my precious time sewing quilt blocks together, I want it to be as perfect as possible, and I’m not sure I’m willing to invest the ‘learning curve’ time on any future quilts. 🙂  This is a crib-size quilt, so I’m just tucking it away for the future.  (Yes, I’m PATIENTLY waiting for grand-babies!)

Miscellaneous Monday…NEW stuff i gotta share

cccookies

My children think VERY HIGHLY of the chocolate chip cookie recipe I received from a friend years and years and years ago!  Once someone offered my young son a “Mrs Field’s Cookie” and he asked it if was as good as a Dianne Larsen cookie!  Here’s the recipe:

I saw this YouTube video quite a while ago, but it still makes me smile!  I want to have fun times like this with my husband when we’re old and gray…..(well, older and more gray!)

AND lastly, I recently learned of a website where people could take a quiz and learn what their ‘Love Language’ is {HERE is the link}.  I remember reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman, and liking it, so I took the quiz.  It was a HARD quiz!!!  You have to choose between two really good options on each question!  But I think I’ll have my hubby take the quiz (because I don’t think I’ll be able to get him to read the book)….but it’ll be good to know his love language (Words of Affirmation, Quality Time,  Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service or Physical Touch) so I can better cater to his needs.  By the way, at the first of the quiz, it asks for name and email address, but if you proceed, you can take it without giving any personal info.  (nice huh?)

a brand-NEW life

Easter

Happy Easter!  What a glorious day!…a day to remember the life, atonement and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

By the time I got to the computer and edited this photo of the tree with eggs hanging from it,  it seems I’m sort of slow in getting today’s post published.  There were already wonderful Easter-related posts up!  For instance…I’ve copied my post title from NancyCreative (great post!).

Then, I wanted to post a link to a fabulous video call Because of Him, but found it was already posted by CKDays. (You should go and watch it!)  And lastly, I enjoyed the same version of The Lord’s Prayer that I posted about on Monday, but put with another fabulous video linked on Living With My Ancestors.  (Best EVERRRRR!)

Have a beautiful Easter Day!  Because of Jesus Christ, we’ve been given the chance for a brand-NEW life!

Here’s my FAVORITE photo from my rural towns shooting session last  week (see last post).  I’ve found it is rare to find a horse with its head up, so I was happy that at least I could see this one’s reflection to add a bit of interest to this shot!

A few other miscellaneous items I gotta share:

Lately I’ve enjoyed studying the different versions of The Lord’s Prayer, and I really LOVED listening to Andrea Bocelli sing it!  He is AWESOME!

AND….if I can find the time {this week’s calendar is looking pretty busy}…I’d like to try to make a few items on my EASTER PINTEREST BOARD! CuTe StuFF!!!  Hopefully I’ll get to at least a couple of projects!

I especially LOVE these eggs from Project Alicia:

NEW photos of my week #41

oldcollage2

This week I took a short over-night trip to visit my Mom and Sister, and to also go with them to see The 5 Browns in concert.  On the way home, I stopped at various rural towns to take some pics.  It’s obvious that the old and the weathered caught my eye that day….nothing NEW!

The concert was FABULOUS!!!  50 fingers were flying!  Here’s a sample of how good they are:

On the trip I also listened to a book on CD, “A Girl Named Zippy“,  that the teacher of a family history class recommended.  The book is random stories of the childhood of Zippy.   It was nice to listen to….but I don’t think I would’ve liked reading it, since there really was no plot etc.  But it was a good example of how interesting our own personal histories can be.  (And a good reminder to me to start writing a few things down before I forget them!)

a NEW breakfast option

granola

I’ll admit, there’s no easier breakfast option than cold cereal! BUT….talk about a highly-processed food!  So I’m going to try harder to make my {sometimes rushed} first meal of the day a bit more healthful.  Today I made a NEW big batch of Soft Granola.  I like to make my own and add dried bananas, coconut flakes, raisins etc.  When I add Greek yogurt, it’s even more yummy!

I also have a NEW recipe for healthy breakfast cookies…I hope to try that soon and will be sure to give a report.  Have a great day! Do or Learn something NEW!

NEW Spring Sugar Cookies

cookiecollage2

YUM!  Spring Sugar Cookies!  I finally took the time to frost these cookies….(we won’t mention how long they sat on my counter in the air-tight containers…just waiting for my attention :o)  Even my son mentioned that he’d appreciate it if I made the frosting THE SAME DAY as I made the cookies!  Ya, Ya, Ya! :o)  I guess that should be my NEW goal.  Happy Friday!  Do or Learn something NEW!
